fish pie

600g hot mashed potato (mashed with milk and butter till creamy)

400g fish (white fish, lighlty smoked white fish, salmon and i also often add some cooked prawns to the mixture of cooked fish)

salt, pepper

1 hard boiled egg – sliced

cheese/parsley sauce

25g plain flour

25g margarine

250ml milk (in which the fish has been cooked)


make sauce according to Roux method, Once sauce thickened, add 75g of grated cheddar cheese or 2 tblsp of chopped parsley. Stir till cheese melted or parsley mixed in.


Line pie dish with a third of mashed potato. Mix the fish, egg and sauce (and prawns, if used) and season well. Pour into dish and cover with remaning potato. Dot the top with marg. and bake in hot oven until brown on top and heated through (can also be browned under grill ) (can be put in freezer for later use)
